We typically go all-out on Halloween at our house, and each year we try to do something a little different . Martha Stewart’s Halloween books are always one of my fave go-to resources for inspiration, and people are always raving about what we create.  Here’s a little stroll down memory lane, that may just inspire you to create some spooky fun of your own this year.  🙂

Halloween Crafts with Cardstock

These cardstock spooky owls stood guard at our front door. 

I used glow-in-the-dark crepe paper for their eyes for an extra creepy effect.

They were awesome!

Spray paint a few branches black and you’ve got yourself some super easy Halloween decor!

These guys continued to haunt our party area inside.

I tucked them into the scene-setter “woods” adhered to our wall, and their glowing eyes and white brows gave just the right effect.

We used a blacklight and it looked great!

I spent A LOT of time cutting out dozens of mice for this project, only to find out that Martha now sells these little critters! 

While I love the way they turned out, next time I would definitely spend the $4 and buy them.  (You can get yours here).

We had a party in our basement, and the staircase leading upstairs was dark…only lit with a string of blacklights.

This was perfect, because all you could see were the shadowed silhouettes of the mice and they looked real!  They were a definite conversation piece.

Check out this cool pic that my hubby snapped, which happened to catch our kitty cat looking like he just enjoyed a “mice” meal.  🙂

Getting Crafty with Paper Towels

You may remember this picture from our Black Light Party.

This “head waiter” was featured in Martha’s Halloween book last year and I just thought it was so cool!

It’s just a head form covered in coffee-stained paper towels.  Isn’t it neat?

When we discovered that tonic water glows in black light, this table set-up just seemed like the perfect idea.

I used Martha’s same coffee-stained paper towel idea and transformed my son and his friend into absolutely amazing mummies!

They looked so good they were barely recognizable!

They sat on our porch and handed out candy that year, and it is still probably our most talked out trick-or-treat night ever.

Neighbors kept coming back to our house over and over just to see these guys.

No one could tell if they were real and they gave some pretty good scares that night.

Such fun!

I don’t know about you, but this has definitely put me in the Halloween spirit!
